Square Enix partners with Enjin to launch Final Fantasy VII collectibles
Game development giant Square Enix has partnered with nonfusible token (NFT) platform Enjin (ENJ) to launch a digital and physical collection featuring a hugely popular video game series, Final Fantasy VII. In an announcement, Enjin said that to receive NFTs, fans will need to pre-order Final Fantasy VII's 25th anniversary products at Square Enix's store.
The products will include a code for a digital collectible equivalent, which can be redeemed on the NFT platform Affinity Network in 2023. According to Vitek Radomski, Chief Technology Officer at Enjin, the partnership will have a positive impact on digital assets and entertainment.
The CTO said this is because Square Enix continues to carve its niche in the industry, setting an example for other large gaming firms.Earlier in July, Cointelegraph Markets Pro spoke with Radomsky via an ask-me-anything session. According to Enjin’s chief technology officer, blockchain gaming will emerge once the bear market settles down, with more established developers creating fun games with the NFT utility that aren’t just playable.
Meanwhile, experts are at loggerheads over the space of virtual reality (VR) in the metaverse. While many believe that the metaverse and VR fit naturally with each other, some believe the two should develop separately without any mutual consideration.
The world of Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved in gaming, and the new collectibles from Square Enix are both beautiful and highly collectible.
